Women-Owned Businesses Rise.

This article is from on the Huffington Post. The infographic information comes from American Express OPEN. The American Express OPEN State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, shows the growth of women-owned businesses in the U.S. as well as the changes that are still relevant.

In 1997 there were 5.4 million firms owned by women and the revenue equaled $919 billion. Today there are 8.1 million women-owned enterprises, equalling $1,256 billion.

This is interesting in terms of employee engagement, because the company’s shaped around the Owners beliefs and morales. Women tend to be more nurturing and understanding therefore their business motto may be very different from a man. I have noticed that women-owned businesses tend to hire more women than men.
