New Metra chief Clifford has eye on reform

Metra’s board recently approved the hiring of a new executive director/CEO, Alexander Clifford.  He is taking the place of Phil Pagano, the last CEO who committed suicide by stepping in front of a train the day he was to be fired.  Phil had led Metra for 20 years and it was found that he was taking unauthorized advances on his vacation pay (a total of $475,000) as well as forging memos to approve the transfer of funds.  In the wake of this turmoil, Clifford says reform is on his to-do list.
